• Qum is the oldest holy city for Shiite Islam, the testimonies of human settlements in its area can be dated even to the fifth. millennium BC So this is a city rich in history and splendid monuments such as the shrine of Masumeh or the imposing mosque Hazra Fatemah. The production of carpets is quite recent, in fact the first frames were built in Qum only around 1930, on the initiative of a group of merchants from Kashan. Despite this however, the Qum were quickly imposed on the market thanks to their refined technical execution and the variety of their designs, which are inspired by those of the most important Persian centers with ancient traditions. We can then find Qum rugs with floral designs combined field similar to those of Isfahan or central medallion as in Kashan. Other Qum are inspired by the design of the boxes Bakhtiari, who realize with greater subtlety and richness of detail of the models to which theyinspire. Even the reasons boteh and zir-i-sultan became a classic theme in the decoration of these rugs. As for the colors, Qum will include a wide range, often with very vibrant tonalities: red, blue, light blue and cream are the most used for the field even if they were used in the 70 tonalities much more muted and pale. Of great importance are finally the Qum completely knotted silk representing the cutting edge of contemporary Persian production. It is indeed very fine dall'annodatura carpets (may exceed one million knots per square meter), rich colors, shades and meticulously made details that are unmatched in all of Persia.
